Maine West, Leyden advance

Conor Hart scored a game-high 19 points as No. 14 Maine West (17-10) won its own 4A regional quarterfinal 50-42 over No. 19 Von Steuben on Monday night in Des Plaines.

Hart was 7-for-7 at the free-throw line with four in the fourth quarter to give the Warriors a shot at avenging a 53-44 overtime loss to No. 3 Maine South (20-9) at 7:30 p.m. today.

Emmett Turner-Jackson and Odera Eneogwe added 10 points apiece for the Warriors, who led 23-13 at halftime and 36-26 after three quarters.

Leyden 69, Austin 40: Senior Eric Palmer scored 16 points and Brandon Stinson had 7 rebounds as No. 16 Leyden won its own 4A regional quarterfinal in Franklin Park over No. 18 Austin.

Leyden plays in today's 6 p.m. semifinal against No. 2 seed and West Suburban Gold rival Proviso East (21-5).

Leyden lost both meetings including 61-52 at home on Friday.
