Wheeling, Prospect Hts. joins forces for food pantry

Wheeling’s “Dine Global Give Local” campaign returns in March, where restaurateurs in Wheeling, Prospect Heights and the surrounding area join together to help out the local food pantry.

Starting on Tuesday, diners are asked to bring in nonperishable food items to participating restaurants. As thanks, the businesses will serve a complimentary food item.

In addition throughout the month, participating locations will host special events with a global theme.

Last year, this campaign raised almost 1,400 pounds of nonperishable food items and a total of $828.25 was contributed to the St. Joseph the Worker Food Pantry. That money was used to buy gift cards from local food stores to help those in need.

Last year, Edwardo’s Natural Pizza took first place with 190 pounds in food donations. Nibbles Play Cafe came in second with 175 pounds.
