Dance the night away to oldies at Marmion
Rosary Alumnae and Marmion Alumni Associations welcome alumni, parents and friends ages 21 and older to “Dancing the Night Away with Dick Biondi” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, in Alumni Hall at Marmion Academy, 1000 Butterfield Road in Aurora.
Advance ticket sales for this old-fashioned sock hop are $12.50 per person and can be purchased by calling the Marmion Alumni Office at (630) 897-6936, ext. 228, or the Rosary Alumnae Office at (630) 896-0831, ext. 19.
Purchasing tickets in advance includes the option of reserving a table of eight seats for the evening. Tickets at the door will be $15. Cash bar and snacks will be available. You can bring your own food, but no outside beverages will be allowed.
Dick Biondi, known as the “Wild I-tralian,” “Big Mouth” and “The Screamer,” was the nation's No. 1 disc jockey in the 1960s, averaging a 60 share of the national audience.
He was the first DJ in America to play the Beatles. Biondi was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame and the Radio Wing of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. He is now back on the air at Chicago's 94.7 FM, True Oldies, weeknights from 8 p.m. to midnight.
