Health briefs: Blood pressure screening

The Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center offers free blood pressure testing and education for lowering the risk for heart disease. Testing will be held at the following times and places. No appointment is necessary.

• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Tiffany Senior Apartments, 893 Tiffany Road, Antioch.

• 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, at Lake County Courthouse and Administration Building, 18 N. County St., Waukegan.

• 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Foss Park District, 1730 Lewis Ave., North Chicago.

• 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday, March 14, at Park Place Senior Center, 414 S. Lewis, Waukegan.

• 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Zion Piggly Wiggly, 3367 Sheridan Road, Zion.

• 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 21, at Zion Library, 2400 Gabriel, Zion.

• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Assisi Senior Homes, 3495 W. Grand, Gurnee.

• 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, at the Waukegan Post Office, 326 North Genesee St.

Hospice volunteers

CNS Home Health and Hospice offers many hospice volunteer positions including bereavement, geriatric assistance, pet companionship, office and clerical work. Volunteers are especially needed in St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, North Aurora, Aurora, Sugar Grove and Yorkville. A required two-day training will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, April 9 and 16, at the administrative office, 690 North Ave., Carol Stream.
