Arlington Park hosts Salute Inc. pizza party

On Feb. 18, Salute Inc. held its 7th annual Family Pizza Party at Arlington Park's Trackside, and it was another incredible success. We had the honor of welcoming back Eric Edmundson and his family, along with several other heroes and their families that Salute has helped over the years.

There were many stories shared that night about the challenges these heroes have faced and how they overcame those obstacles, also the multiple stories of folks doing things to help support Salute. The Salute FC team is a team of young girls from the area that raised over $4,000 playing in 3v3 soccer tournaments.

Another young boy decided to forgo his birthday presents and instead asked friends and family to donate to Salute. There were many other stories of simple yet powerful actions like these taken by friends of Salute.

Each of these individuals are heroes to Mary Beth and I and we are honored to have your continued support.

When we founded Salute, we had no idea of where this journey would take us. But what we have found is that when folks learn about the sacrifices our service members and their families face on a daily basis, they are there to help and become difference makers.

There were many difference makers and supporters at the pizza party that we want to thank them. They are Arlington Park and Kris Stabler, Donny's Pizza, ITW Senior Outreach group, Incredible Technologies, Mayor Arlene Mulder, Video Golfers for Underdogs, TrainSignal and Gary Colabuono.

There were many others that I cannot mention, but to each of you a sincere thank you for all you have done. Until next year do not forget to “Honor the Service and Remember the Sacrifice” of all our heroes and their families.
