Man critically injured in wreck near Elgin
A 20-year-old Johnsburg man was severly injured after his vehicle spun into oncoming traffic in Sleepy Hollow and was rammed into a ditch, police said.
Daniel Risch was driving a black Pontiac Grand Am north on Randall Road, about a mile north of I-90, when he struck a northbound vehicle causing him to lose control and spin into the southbound lanes, Elgin Police spokeswoman Sue Olafson said.
A southbound 2003 Saab struck the Grand Am, and both vehicles ended up in a small ditch near the intersection of Randall Road and Joy Lane, police said.
Risch was taken to Sherman Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday night.
The southbound lanes of Randall Road were shut down while police investigated the accident.
The driver of the Saab was not injured in the crash.
