Five home burglaries reported in Glen Ellyn

Glen Ellyn police are investigating five residential burglaries reported over the last week.

Entry to the homes was gained by forcing open a locked door, or in some cases through an unlocked door, police said. Nobody was home and jewelry and credit cards were targeted by the offenders. Police believe the burglaries occurred during the day and that at least four were committed by the same persons.

The burglaries were on the 700 block of Meredith Place, the 200 block of Bryant Avenue, the 700 block of Riford Road, the 800 block of Crescent Boulevard and the 1000 block of Crescent Boulevard.

Police reminded residents to lock their doors and to watch for people or vehicles that appear out of place or otherwise seem suspicious.

Offenders could be knocking on doors to see if anyone is home, then making up an excuse for having the wrong address or ask for directions, police said. Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to contact Glen Ellyn police at (630) 469-1187.
