Flu still widespread, Cook County says

Health officials in suburban Cook County say flu levels are still high and they're advising residents without shots to get vaccinated.

Flu season typically ends in May and people who have been vaccinated this year are protected. Stephen Martin is chief operating officer for the county's public health department. He says it's not too late to get those shots.

Martin says residents should check with their primary care doctors or local pharmacy to get the vaccine.

The state's Public Health Department says flu activity is widespread throughout the state.

Health officials are reminding people that the basic three "C's" will help limit spread of the flu: clean hands, cover your cough, and contain germs by staying home if you're sick.
