Ill., Mo. to share cost of St. Louis bridge fix

ST. LOUIS — Illinois and Missouri will share the nearly $5.3 million cost of emergency repairs to a Mississippi River bridge just south of St. Louis.

Missouri Department of Transportation spokesman Jack Wang tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the Jefferson Barracks Bridge remains safe and accessible to traffic.

The repairs are to be completed by the end of the year and include work on the lateral bracing under the bridge and some cables, at times requiring the closure of some Interstate 255 lanes.

Illinois' Department of Transportation will use state funds for the repairs, while Missouri will use a mix of federal bridge and state funds.
