The book on: Lastings Milledge
Ÿ He was the 12th overall pick in the 2003 draft and named the No. 9 overall prospect in the majors by Baseball America before the 2006 season.
Ÿ With a .320/.414/.512 line against left-handed pitchers last year, Milledge could replace Andruw Jones as the White Sox’ reserve outfielder/right-handed specialist.
Ÿ Strike zone recognition remains a problem. Milledge drew only 28 walks in 379 at-bats with the Pirates last season.
Ÿ Defensively, he is a corner outfielder with below-average skills.
Ÿ The quote: “I told him, ‘You’re still young (25), man. You’ve got a lot of baseball left in you.” — Juan Pierre
