This will be do-nothing Congress

When Gail Rose of Huntley suggested the president should work with Republicans, I wonder what she has been paying attention to over the first two years of the Obama presidency.

More than any president in recent times he tried to bring the GOP into the process and was met with “no” at every turn. George W. Bush spoke of bipartisanship knowing he had no intention of working toward it. Silly Obama actually thought he could make it happen.

I find it laughable that Rose says the Republicans now have to work to fix the health care bill and save the economy. Other than repeal, I have not heard or seen anything suggesting what should be done about the bill.

As for jobs the new Congress has been seated long enough to get something on the table but nothing has been proposed. Other than the worn out lie that “lower taxes create jobs, higher taxes kill jobs” we have heard nary a peep from the Boehner-led group.

I predict this will be one of the most “do nothing” Congresses in history because the Republicans know their best shot at regaining total control is to go into a stall. If only the Founding Fathers had written in a 24-second shot clock into the Constitution.
