Respite Care Program offers a break for caregivers

The Respite Care Program at Christus Victor Lutheran Church was developed to offer caregivers a break from their 24/7 responsibilities.

This fun, structured activity program is for adults with mild cognitive or physical impairments. Participants enjoy the company of others while participating in exercise, cards, crafts, baking and much more organized and supervised by a trained and caring staff.

The Respite Care Program presently meets from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 1045 S. Arlington Heights Road, in Elk Grove Village.

The number of participants has recently increased and the staff hopes to add a second day for this valuable service.

The program seems to have been one of the best kept secrets in Elk Grove Village and the organizers want to get the word out to more caregivers.

Additional volunteers are always welcome. This is a great program where you go away feeling like you had a lot of fun while helping others. For information, call (847) 437-2666 or e-mail caregiverscare@comcast.net.
