Computer animation class coming Saturday in Hoffman Estates

The Village of Hoffman Estates Youth Commission is offering two free “Project Alice” computer animation training classes for children of Hoffman Estates residents, ages seven to 14 (beginner level). Both sessions will take place on Saturday, Feb. 26, one from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the second from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes are held at the village hall, 1900 Hassell Road.

Registration is required as space is limited to 10 students per session. Call (847) 781-2606. A parent or guardian is required to be present. Light refreshments will be served.

Project Alice is an innovative 3-D programming environment created at Carnegie Mellon University that teaches fundamental programming concepts to young children through animation. This program is used nationwide from elementary schools through top universities to introduce vital computer programming skills in a natural and fun way.
