Aurora extends deadline to remove holiday decorations

Aurora residents now have until March 25 to take down holiday decorations. The city extended the deadline 30 days after the area was hit by the major snowstorm early this month.

A city ordinance requires residents not to display outdoor holiday decorations more than 60 days prior to or after a holiday, which would have been Feb. 25 for Christmas decorations.

Typically, when city property inspectors spot properties that are in violation of the ordinance, the property owner is given a courtesy notice advising them of the violation and directs them to be in compliance within 14 days or face a $50 fine.
