$50K bail in North Aurora gasoline burglary
A North Aurora man was being held Tuesday on $50,000 bail, accused of stealing gasoline out of an open garage, police said.
Brian Guethle, 19, was arrested at 3:08 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Pheasant Hill, according to North Aurora police.
Someone reported seeing a man stealing a can of gasoline in the 300 block of Basswood Drive. Since the garage is attached to a residence, it is considered residential burglary, police said.
Guethle, who lives in the 1500 block of Hartsburg Lane, faces one felony count. At the time of the charge, he was on probation for a theft conviction.
In 2010, Guethle was charged with theft and residential burglary in Aurora. He pleaded guilty to the theft charge Jan. 5 and the other charges were dropped.
Guethle was sentenced to 24 months of probation and 50 hours of community service. He was also ordered to write letters of apology to his victims and to pay restitution, according to Kane County court records.
