We did it in WWII; we can do it again
The governor of New Jersey is advertising in Chicago, insisting business owners move their companies to New Jersey because it isn’t as heavy a state regarding company taxes as Illinois. No state would attempt this arrogance if the target state was being run in a fiscally sound manner.
Our state simply must get on a program of reducing the cost of doing business in Illinois. This is the first thing that Illinois as well as the whole country must do. Keeping taxes from increasing is commendable, but the first thing that must be done is to reduce the number of unimportant departments and the number of employees in those departments.
The country must reduce the cost of its lifestyle and keep it that way. We did it in World War II and we can do it again. If any company in the private sector determines it is not showing black figures on its bottom line, it reduces the cost of doing business. The government must follow the same procedure and promptly. Write or call your representatives and tell them that if progress isn’t made by the time their election comes up, they may be replaced.
