Car hit by numerous shots on NW Indiana highway

LAKE STATION, Ind. — State police say a driver fired several shots at a car carrying three people on a northwestern Indiana highway in an apparent road rage incident.

The car was struck by numerous bullets Thursday night along Interstate 80/94 near the Lake County city of Lake Station. Police say one adult in the car was injured by glass fragments but declined treatment. The other adult and a child in the car weren't hurt.

Police say the people from Merrillville were westbound on the highway when a silver or gray Dodge Charger with dark tinted windows came up behind them and began flashing its headlights. That car then pulled alongside and the male driver fired the shots.

Police made no immediate arrests and were investigating.
