Daily Herald’s Sassone earns APSE honors
Daily Herald sports writer Tim Sassone’s coverage of the Chicago Blackhawks earned him Top 10 honors in the 2010 national contest judged by the Associated Press Sports Editors.
Sassone, who has covered the Blackhawks and the NHL since 1988 for the Daily Herald, was honored for his game report of the Stanley Cup win over the Philadelphia Flyers last June.
“Tim’s colleagues around Chicago consider him the dean of Chicago hockey, and it’s not because he has been around the sport his entire life,” Daily Herald Sports Editor Tom Quinlan said.
“Our Blackhawks readers appreciate his love for the game, his attention to detail and his style of writing. We think he’s outstanding, and it’s great to see that others in this business agree.”
