Some thanks for state workers

Quite often while reading your letters, there are so many negative comments that I feel quite overwhelmed. I would like to change that tide and offer some praise to some wonderful people who deserve a pat on the back.

My husband went to the Schaumburg Secretary of State’s office to renew his license early. He was in and out in less than 20 minutes and was serviced very efficiently from beginning to end by everyone involved. The process works beautifully with no glitches. Congrats to Jesse White and all his tremendous employees.

I needed to drop my mother-in-law at Midway Airport on Feb. 7. I-355 and I-55 were spotlessly clean and cleared from our recent blizzard. Driving was a pleasure. Thank you, Illinois Toll Highway Authority and Illinois Department of Transportation for a most easy trip.

When arriving at Midway, I was greeted by an excellent police officer who helped get my passenger inside on a very brutal day. She also got a wheelchair and was extremely patient helping my 85-year-old lady. The baggage carriers were just as efficient and friendly.

The whole experience left me feeling very proud of the state we live in and the people who work day in day out on jobs that are not the highest-paying, yet take pride and do their best. Kudos to all of you, and a big thanks.
