Two Chicago reporters tapped to replace Oprah

ABC7 Chicago has named two local television personalities to fill Oprah Winfrey's shoes when the talk-show icon wraps up her final original show in the spring.

ABC7 sports reporter Ryan Chiaverini and WGN-TV traffic reporter/co-anchor Valerie Warner will host the new program — an hourlong mix of talk and entertainment that will go on the air in late May.

“As we went through the audition process, it became obvious that Ryan and Val had the right stuff for our local show,” Executive Producer Marlaine Selip said in a statement.

Chiaverini has worked for ABC7 since 2006, specializing in sports reporting. He co-hosted “The Chicago Huddle,” a half-hour show that focused on professional football. Warner joined WGN in 2005, and has covered breaking news, local politics and health issues.

Winfrey announced in late 2009 that the current season of “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” its 25th, would be the final one.
