Mike Jackson’s outdoors notes
The local buzz has been so intense from anglers that it has reached a fever pitch.
I am referring, of course, about cabin fever and the present teasing from Mother Nature.
With the warming trend upon us, some anglers have headed to area rivers in hope of finding some walleye activity.
Caution is advised. The warmer weather has taken its toll on some waterways with a thinning of ice. Even some shallow spots on our lakes with thin ice and very sloppy conditions.
Fox Chain: Panfish have moved into sandy, shallow areas on Channel Lake. The crappie action has greatly improved on Channel and Petite Lakes. There are a few good walleye spots on Lake Catherine in 6 feet of water.
Lake Michigan: Some good perch action at Navy Pier and Belmont Harbor.
