Man gets probation for child porn collection

A Park City man was placed on probation for 30 months Monday after he admitted having a massive collection of child pornography on computers in his home.

Lake County Associate Judge Daniel Shanes also ordered Allen Ayen, 62, to spend the next nine months on the electronic home monitoring program.

Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Stanton said investigators from her office and the state attorney general’s office served a search warrant on Ayen’s home in the 3400 block of Howard Avenue on Sept. 21.

Investigators had tracked child pornography moving from several Internet sites to Ayen’s computers, Stanton said.

Police found more than 1,000 still images of child pornography and 800 videos on three computers and a collection of compact discs in the house, Stanton said.

In accepting Ayen’s guilty plea to aggravated possession of child pornography, Shanes ordered that all computer equipment taken from Ayen’s home be forfeited to police.

Shanes also ordered Ayen to pay a $1,000 fine and said he must perform 200 hours of community service.

Ayen must also successfully complete any sex offender treatment program his probation officer recommends, Shanes said, and is barred from any contact with people under 17.

Ayen should be prepared to have his residence and other property searched “regularly and frequently” by probation officers, Shanes said, and could be jailed if any contraband is found during those searches.

Stanton said Ayen faced a maximum sentence of seven years in prison if convicted after a trial.
