Walsh out of touch with his district

No one who voted for Joe Walsh did so to allow him to waste time and tax dollars trying to redefine rape. His socially moderate district does not want him to eliminate women’s rights. The 50 percent-plus-295 votes that got him elected were not so he could promote his extreme views, cut support for birth control or pre- and postnatal care at Planned Parenthood clinics (often the only medical services its clients have access to).

A substantial majority of constituents do not want women’s right to choose to be prevented. They do not want him to waste time chipping away at women’s right to get an abortion if her private insurance pays for it.

The Daily Herald did not endorse him. He has extreme views on women’s rights and has pledged to repeal health care. Mr. Walsh, how quickly you have forgotten that the message you got from the voters is, “It’s the economy, stupid!”
