Vote no on repeal of health care reform

Several years ago I considered retiring before the age of 65. Thank goodness I had the foresight to apply for health care coverage from Blue Cross before I actually retired. Much to my dismay, I received a letter telling me that I was basically uninsurable because I had an abnormal protein in my blood, which could turn into cancer.

I spoke with my physician who explained that it was no more likely that I would get cancer than a person who was a smoker would get cancer. Smokers are not uninsurable.

When I appealed the verdict and my physician wrote a letter to back up my assertions, I was again turned down and told that I would have to go into a state-run, very expensive plan for catastrophic coverage.

This health care act allows people to change jobs or retire early without the fear of losing one’s coverage.

It now provides me with the freedom to get the care I need, including free preventive care, lower cost prescription drugs and Medicare that I can count on.

Please write Senators Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk to work against this project that holds insurance companies in check by allowing them to once again deny coverage to children with pre-existing conditions, cancel coverage when people get sick, and limit the amount of care you can get, even if you need it.
