Molesting charge added in porn case
A Lake Bluff man already accused of possession of child pornography has been charged with molesting a 16-year-old boy.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Stanton said Ian O’Donohoe, 39, was indicted by a grand jury Wednesday for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
On Jan. 8, O’Donohoe was arrested by investigators from the Illinois Attorney General’s office who served a search warrant on his residence in the 29000 block of Waukegan Road. Stanton said investigators found dozens of images of child pornography on O’Donohoe’s computer and charged him with aggravated possession of child pornography.
In the course of that investigation, Stanton said, a link between O’Donohoe and a 16-year-old boy from Palatine was established.
Investigators interviewed the boy, Stanton said, and he told them he had been involved in a sexual relationship with O’Donohoe for the past year.
The boy told police he and O’Donohoe had met and corresponded through the Craigslist website, Stanton said.
O’Donohoe, who is free on a $75,000 bond, is scheduled to be arraigned on all the charges against him Feb. 23.
Stanton said O’Donohoe faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of either charge against him.
