Cops: Man had 77 pounds of pot, $650,000 in cash
A Nebraska man was arrested in Willowbrook with 77 pounds of marijuana and $650,000 in cash, prosecutors said in court Wednesday.
Bail was set at $600,000 for Kenneth McIntosh, 55, who was arrested Tuesday as part of a drug trafficking investigation. Assistant DuPage County State’s Attorney Ken Tatarelis said officers caught up with McIntosh during an apparent transaction outside a Willowbrook hotel.
He said authorities received consent to search a duffel bag in McIntosh’s possession, which contained $200,000. The discovery led investigators to a second hotel in Burr Ridge, where they recovered an additional $450,000, Tatarelis said.
McIntosh then gave police consent to search a Willowbrook storage shed, where he had 77 individually wrapped, one-pound packages of marijuana valued at nearly $350,000, Tatarelis said.
Judge Michael Wolfe said McIntosh must post a full cash bond of $600,000, and also prove the money comes from legal means, to go free while his case is pending.
The defendant said he was laid off from working construction and was unlikely to come up with the money.
Tatarelis said McIntosh has “no ties to the state of Illinois other than to deliver drugs.”
