Cook Co. inmate accused of school bomb threats
MARIETTA, Ga. — Marietta police say a man being held in an Illinois jail is charged with mailing bomb threats to two Marietta schools.
Marietta police spokeswoman Officer Jenny Murphy says 29-year-old Valtrez Nathaniel Stewart is charged with sending threatening letters to Marietta High School and Marietta Middle School on Feb. 1.
She says Stewart is accused to mailing the letters from Illinois, was he was arrested on other charges Jan. 31.
Murphy says the schools received identical, photocopied letters threatening a bomb if $10 million was not delivered to 10 people whose names were listed on the back of the letter by Feb. 4.
Murphy says Stewart remains in custody in Cook County, Ill.
