Choice among food, house, medical bills
I came down with a horrible deep-skin boil/infection that I'd hoped would go away on its own, but it didn't. I fearfully went to the hospital and received a bill for over $1,200, for which I called the billing company to state that I couldn't possibly manage the bill. They told me to send in proof of my lack of funds and — because of the health care bill — I didn't have to pay a thing.
I was so shocked to find the same care at the same price as in other countries, but here in the U.S., fairness has prevailed, and I didn't have to make a choice between the bill or food that month.
Our country has finally caught up to what most other countries have been doing for decades; taking care of those who need the care regardless of their income. The Republicans want to go back to the old ways because they were all being monetarily “thanked” by insurance companies and pharmaceuticals to do so.
Wake up, Republicans. If you like being used and laughed at, continue doing what you're doing. If you want quality health care that won't force you to make a choice between your house, food or your health care bills, then you'll start voting Democratic.
