Your news: Palatine law firm recognized for food drive efforts

Lavelle Law, Ltd., the 13-attorney practice that moved from Chicago to Palatine in 2003, recently received special recognition from the Palatine Township board for the firm’s efforts in hosting the annual Palatine Food Drive.

The board introduced Resolution 15-10 recognizing the firm for “its many social service contributions to and participation in the life of Palatine Township residents.” Founding Partner Kerry Lavelle was on hand to receive the acknowledgment from the board.

Central to the recognition was Lavelle Law’s founding and operation of the yearly Palatine Food Drive that has helped fill the shelves of the Palatine Township Food Pantry each holiday season since 2004.

“My colleagues and I are humbled and honored to receive this type of recognition,” said Lavelle. “Our efforts are designed to address the needs of our community in a positive and measurable way. The resolution by the board is unnecessary, but very warmly received.”

Lavelle was quick to share credit with the attorneys and staff at the Palatine firm, which is located at 501 W. Colfax. In addition, Lavelle thanked the many clients and sponsors for the annual food drive.

“Many of our clients in the grocery industry make substantial contributions each year and there are more than a dozen local businesses and organizations who give us room to place collection boxes in their locations throughout the community,” he said. “Of course, we are grateful to all of the residents from the area that make it a point to bring their donations each holiday season.”

The Palatine Food Drive begins at the end of each October and runs through the Friday before Thanksgiving, when the Lavelle team and other volunteers collect all of the donations and deliver them to the Palatine Food Pantry. On more than one occasion the pantry has had to find additional space to accommodate all of the donations collected from the Palatine Food Drive.

“None of this would be possible without the great work done by the Palatine Township Food Pantry,” said Lavelle. “We are inspired by their efforts to address the needs of so many individuals and families who are struggling. They are a tremendous resource to our community and we are committed to assisting them in every way possible for years to come.”

Lavelle Law, Ltd. was named Business of the Year by the Palatine Chamber of Commerce in 2009. Information about the firm can be found at lavellelaw.com, or by following the firm on Twitter at LavelleLaw.
