Round Lake man killed in Antioch crash

A 40-year-old Round Lake man was killed Sunday after being hit by a car while walking down the middle of Route 59, officials said.

Santiago Balderas was walking on the street about 9 p.m. when he was struck by a car near Landmark Way, Antioch Police Chief Craig Somerville said Tuesday. The motorist was traveling south on Route 59 when Balderas was struck, Somerville said.

No citations have been issued, he said, but the crash is under investigation by Antioch Police accident investigators and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.

Additional information will be released when the investigation is completed, Somerville said.
