Des Plaines mayor dons Packers gear
Des Plaines Mayor Marty Moylan arrived at Monday night’s city council meeting decked out in a Green Bay Packers jersey. Moylan was making good on his wager with Mayor Michael Neitzke of Greenfield, Wis., a suburb of Milwaukee, after the Bears lost to the Packers in NFC Championship Game two weeks ago.
When the Bears lost to the Packers that meant Moylan had to don the green and yellow at the city’s next televised council meeting, which was scheduled for the night after the Super Bowl.
Moylan was jovial about the payoff, wearing the jersey under his suit jacket, but in plain view of all. He even posed for numerous photos in his jersey bearing the No. 56, saying, “This is for the cheese curds!”
After the meeting Moylan said he was happy to wear the Packers jersey after watching them play a great Super Bowl.
“I actually like wearing it. They played a great game and won fair and square,” he said. “But the people in Wisconsin told me they felt that the real Super Bowl was when they beat their arch rivals, the Bears, in the NFC Championship.”
