Richard Hissong certified as write-in after being bounced from ballot in January

The race for Des Plaines’ 6th Ward aldermanic seat is up to three candidates, as Richard Hissong has been certified as a write-in candidate by the Cook County Clerk’s Office, that office said Monday. Hissong, 82, was removed from the April 5 ballot in January for being one signature shy of 41, the required number. The 6th Ward, on Des Plaines’ south side, is presently represented on the city council by Mark Walsten, who is running for re-election. Walsten is also being challenged by Mario Palacios. A fourth candidate, Cliff Matthews, was taken off the ballot in January, but he is not running as a write-in.
