Must have a stake in game

If you wanted in on a poker game and went to court and asked a judge if he or she would order the other players to let you in, the first question they’d ask is: “Do you have the price of admission?” If you said no, they’d say, “Too bad, if you don’t have the price of admission, then no admission will be ordered.” A stake is required to gain entrance.

This is common sense. But a few years ago, the Supreme Court ordered everyone over the age of 18 be allowed to vote, voiding the rules the founders had put into place. This caused a majority of voters to emerge who had no stake in the game. This group elects politicians who order payments from the treasury, whether they paid taxes or not.

This is taxation without representation. The ones paying taxes can elect no one, not even a dogcatcher, because they are a minority. Jefferson feared this would happen and he said so. We The People should demand only those paying taxes can vote. This could be income taxes or property taxes. We have a stake in the game.

To avoid rebellion, we must adopt a newer taxing system, shared by a broader group. The FairTax bill fits this description. A bill is introduced in Congress every year called The FairTax, but has never gotten a hearing. Demand a hearing on the FairTax.
