Des Plaines mayor addresses business community

Des Plaines Mayor Martin J. Moylan recently addressed the Des Plaines business community at the Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Mayor's Annual Address To Business, Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Cafe La Cave Restaurant, 2777 N. Mannheim Road.

This is the second year that Moylan has addressed the chamber organization.

During his presentation Mayor Moylan announced plans to host a summer event, the “Des Plaines Summer Fling,” and the possibility of the development of a velodrome, a professional bicycling arena.

Joining the mayor in his presentation were director of finance Dorothy Wisniewski, who presented details regarding the 2010 and 2011 municipal budget, and director of public works and engineering Timothy Oakley, who spoke about River Road construction under way in the vicinity of the casino development and about several flood prevention projects.

The group answered questions from the audience following the presentation.
