Was it so awful to let trucks do 65 mph?

I finally got a chance to drive 65 mph on I-355, south of I-55. This got me to thinking. Just how catastrophic was the doom that was certain to accompany the 2010 law that allowed truckers to drive 65 mph in rural areas?

Given the prophecy by those in the know, I expected local 24-hour news channels to have never-relenting, wall-to-to wall coverage and major local newspapers to have cover-to-cover articles depicting the horrors of the havoc created by these loose-cannons known as professional truck drivers.

Isn’t it sad that now the nature of the people of Illinois is one that believes that human beings are incapable of doing anything positive?
