Dancing stars crowned in Geneva

Jane and Peter Cladis, performing a waltz Saturday night at the third annual Dancing With the Geneva Stars fundraising event at Eagle Brook Country Club, were crowned champions of the third annual fundraiser by garnering the most support from the voting public.

Six couples competed for the champion's trophy on a night that raised $16,670 to benefit the Geneva Cultural Arts Commission and the Geneva Academic Foundation.

The Cladises collected the most votes, which were cast online for a month before the event or by those attending the sold-out show. Votes were $1 each, and there was no limit on how many votes a supporter could submit.

Other couples competing included Nancy and Ralph Dantino, Anne and Matt Cesarone, Amanda and Adam Law, Jeanne and Donald Cummings, and Steve and Therese Davison.

For the third straight year, State Street Dance Studio in Geneva provided the couples with lessons to master their dance routines, including a group dance.

Harry and Marcia Smith were last year's winners, and the event raised more than $17,000, with $15,735 of that coming strictly from votes for the couples.
