Musical selects audience members to participate

The final performance of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” at Palatine High School will open at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5. This Tony Award-winning show is structured as an actual spelling bee in real time, where four volunteer spellers from the audience are invited to interact with the characters onstage as participants in the bee. Each night’s “guest” spellers will include Palatine High School staff, administrators and coaches, and another volunteer chosen from the audience. The show is directed by 1978 Palatine High School graduate and staff member Ken Stromberg, with vocal direction by Steve Sivak, artistic direction and scenic design by Paul Dombrowski, instrumental direction by Raeleen Horn, and sound and lighting design by Doug Gross and Matt Decker. $10 general admission; $7 students with ID.
