WIM to discuss resilience Feb. 10

The Northern Fox Valley Chapter of Women in Management presents “Emotion resilience: bouncing back to peak performance” with Christine Tredup, founder of Lifespan Counseling in St. Charles, on Thursday, Feb. 10 at the Elgin Country Club, 2575 Weld Road, Elgin.

Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., with the luncheon and program at noon. Meetings adjourn promptly at 1:30 p.m. Cost for members is $25 and $30 for nonmembers. Reservations must be made for attendance online at www.wimonline.org.

Tredup's presentation will include an experiential guided imagery exercise that entails imagining one's self already in the condition or circumstances you are seeking. It is seeing yourself strong, athletic, successful, calm, energized, healthy, admired, cancer-free, loved or loving, forgiving or forgiven. This exercise is known as end-state imagery, which highlights the concrete, short-term goals individuals strive.

Imagery is a gentle right brain activity that thrives on a soft, receptive state of mind. Most people report that their imagery is more vivid, intense, and powerful in a group and that the effects will stay with them in subsequent sessions by themselves.

Tredup is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and the Loyola University School of Social Work. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Academy of Certified Social Workers and a Board Certified Diplomat in Clinical Social Work. For her work, she has been awarded the Women In Management Women of Achievement Award, the Women in Management Charlotte Danstrom Award of Licensed Professionals, and the YWCA Marie Grolich Award for Social Service.

The Northern Fox Valley Chapter of Women in Management was founded in 1984. It is part of a national organization. Members are comprised of professionals in six categories: academic; corporate; entrepreneur; government; licensed, degreed professional; and nonprofit. Area women managers/business owners are invited to join. For more information www.wimonline.org.
