O'Hare, Midway almost back to normal

Chicago officials say O'Hare International and Midway International Airport are getting back to normal operations after Wednesday's record snowfall.

City Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino says O'Hare reopened all but one of its runways Thursday. Among the runways reopened was 13,000-foot one needed for heavy flights and those headed for Asia and the Pacific.

Department spokeswoman Karen Pride said Thursday night that no delays had been reported at O'Hare or Midway, but she noted that airlines continued to cancel flights because of lingering effects from the storm. Pride said airlines canceled more than 1,100 flights at O'Hare on Thursday and 40 at Midway, where Southwest Airlines had reinstituted a full schedule.
