Blizzard costs Hanover Park about $75,000

Hanover Park Public Works Director Howard Killian estimates the blizzard of 2011 will cost the village about $75,000.

It’s no surprise, he said, given crews were out plowing for 45 hours straight going back to 11 p.m. Monday.

The figure includes man hours and costs associated with salt, vehicle use and contractors.

Killian said his department’s focus now is to push back the snow accumulated at certain corners and to dig out fire hydrants.

“Everything’s moving and there aren’t any problem areas,” he said.
