TV events: A Super weekend

Super weekend

It's Super Sunday this weekend, with the Super Bowl of course set for 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, on Fox WFLD Channel 32. HBO, however, jumps on the bandwagon with reruns of its “Lombardi” documentary at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, and 8 a.m. Sunday to start the pregame. Fox then brings festivities to a close with a special postgame episode of “Glee” at about 9:30 p.m. on Channel 32 mixing football with a Michael Jackson theme.

Reagan centennial

Unlikely as it seems, PBS celebrates what would have been Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday with the new Nancy Reagan profile “The Role of a Lifetime” at 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, on WTTW Channel 11. The PBS outlet then reruns the “American Experience” Reagan profile in two parts starting at 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, and concluding Feb. 14. HBO premieres a new “Reagan” documentary at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7.

MLK on CSNC

Comcast SportsNet Chicago marks Black History Month with a series of specials in February, but one of the most interesting is “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Visit to Chicago,” a look at the civil-rights leader's confrontation with the original Mayor Daley. “Mr. Cub” Ernie Banks shares his memories of that turbulent summer of 1966 at 10 and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, on CSNC.

Waste Watcher

Sequential genius

Almost as genius as the original “Terminator” concept was James Cameron's idea to bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger, not as the villain but as the good guy, in “Terminator 2.” When Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor sees him caring for the young John Connor and muses, “In an insane world, it was the sanest choice,” that's action-movie heartbreak. It's at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, on AMC.
