Points the tea party would agree with

I'm not currently a member of the tea party; I'm not even sure there is a place to go online or in person to sign up. I do, however, agree with their thinking regarding smaller government and less taxes.

I recently caught a discussion on a left-leaning radio program where one commentator said to the other, “We all know there is a strong racist component to the tea party agenda.” We all know racism exists and it would be ridiculous to say there are no racists in the tea party movement or the Democrat Party for that matter. But to label thousands of people as such because they oppose President Obama is way off base.

I don't pretend to speak for tea party members, but I bet many of them would agree with the following: It isn't about race, it is about having health care reform shoved down our collective throats, it is about 16,000 new IRS agents and 30 new “czar” appointments. It is about the growth of government and the tax increase sure to follow.

It is about the total lack of understanding the workings of the private sector; it is about the government takeover of GM and the school loan programs, it is the banning of deep water drilling in the Gulf by American companies while others drill away.

It is the closing of Gitmo, the trials for terrorists, the ground zero mosque. It is the ongoing American apology tour and the ridiculous situation on our southern border. It is about having a party in control who feel they can fix any issue by throwing money at it.

I guess when the left can no longer use logic to advance their agenda or defend their policies they revert to name calling, and usually “racism” stops people in their tracks — unless the accused know the accusations are completely false. No, Obama's race is not a concern for many people. His administration's ability to compile a long list of incompetence in two short years, however, is.
