Stranded motorists stay at Prospect Hts. city hall
About 10 people who were stranded on Palatine Road in Prospect Heights spent the night at Prospect Heights City Hall and a few others were in the police station and the fire district’s station, said Mayor Dolly Vole.
The mayor, who also was at city hall all night, was upset that some employers seemed unreasonable. One man whose car got stuck said he was going to get his son, whose employer would not let him stay at the building after his shift, and another said his employer insisted he come to work.
“Most of the individuals had been in their cars for five or six hours,” said Vole.
The city sent plows out with police and fire vehicles when they got calls that took them on state roads, said the mayor.
