I have maintained a high level of involvement and ethics throughout my years of service. I am always accessible to residents and employees that want to be heard.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.It is hard to find the perfect balance between providing required and expected services and finding the funding for those services. I believe that we will need a slight increase in taxes in order to maintain services at the level that residents have come to expect, unless we can increase our tax base. I think we should concentrate on attracting additional businesses to Mundelein and encouraging our residents to shop and dine in Mundelein.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Gangs and housing overcrowding continue to be concerns for our residents.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?We are operating with a very tight budget. Departments have cut their budgets to the bone over the last few years. We are renegotiating contracts to reduce costs and may have to cut additional staff positions. We don't have any extra money to put towards economic development.What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I think we need to do a better job of marketing Mundelein to businesses. We need to concentrate on economic development.
