Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?I'm running for this office because I want to make a positive contribution to our community. I am a very frequent patron of the library and want to see it thrive. I can use my experience in planning and construction to help guide the library district during the expansion of the library. If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of important initiatives you've led. If you are a non-incumbent, tell us what contributions you would make.Candidate did not respond.Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?I have had a library card since I was in my teens. I got my St. Charles library card in 1989 when I moved here. I'm at the library usually twice a month, and check out a lot of books.Space is usually an issue at libraries. If that's the case at your library, would your solution be to expand the physical plant or make room by doing away with parts of the collection that technology has made less critical? Explain. The St. Charles library district has done a good job of using the space we have, but a physical expansion is necessary. While electronic technology will make material available in more media forms, actual books are still the main resource used by the community. The addition of these newer electronic media has increased the need for more space. What impact have economic and technological changes had on libraries? How does a library remain relevant? How should its role in the community change?Libraries are expected to do much more than in the past. Music and movie collections are much larger and ever growing. The need for computer and internet access for library patrons has grown tremendously. However, our library need to remain focused on the core concept of access to information and resources for all of our citizens, because it is a core concept of our republic.
