As long as I have the best interest for South Elgin residents in mind, I know the decisions I make will be good for all.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Our sales tax is just right for now with 1/2%automatically put towards our road maintenance and the remainder of our portion for operating expenses. By raising taxes, we will have people making large purchases, contemplating buying in a lower sales tax municipality.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Most concerns I hear about is street repair. our roads have been inspected and ranked from 1 to 5, 5 needing our attention first. We have been very aggressive on fixing these roads as money is available.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Our budget has been trimmed as much as we can without disrupting services that are needed to run the Village.What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Candidate did not respond.
