If yes, please explain: Candidate did not respond.Candidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 The construction of a grade separation to handle the increased freight traffic by the Canadian National Railway Corporation. This freight traffic affects both our public safety and traffic congestion throughout the Village. A grade separation is vital to our community.Key Issue 2 Economic Development throughout the Village. In particular, development within the main business district that will attract people from both Barrington and the surrounding area.Key Issue 3 Promoting engagement of citizens young and old through community building events and programming.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?As a thirty-three year old with a very young family, I will bring to the Village Board a perspective that is not currently represented by my fellow candidates nor by the current board members. My background as an assistant state's attorney will also allow me to bring a unique perspective regarding local law enforcement.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I believe the Village has done a good job to keep the sales tax at an appropriate level. The big sales tax issue that needs to be dealt with is the disparity between the sales tax in Cook County and Lake County. This disparity not only makes it more difficult to lure businesses to our Village but it puts similar businesses in different parts of the Village on an uneven playing field.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Canadian National Railway's increased freight traffic. Approximately half of the Village could be cut off from both police and fire protection which is very dangerous. Most importantly, this needs to be addressed through the construction of a grade separation. I also believe we need to work with surrounding communities to ensure that no citizen is without police and fire protection.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Candidate did not respond.What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?If economically feasible, support the use of more sustainable alternative sources of energy throughout the Village.
