During the last four years we put a hold on projects that where not necessary and waited until the times where right and we where able to save a lot of money.Key Issue 3 Less is more. Keep things simple and don't over govern a small community. Keep Volo families safe and proud of the community they live in.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?I have lived in Volo for 37 years. I love this community and want to see it grow and become the best place in Lake County to raise your family. We have a lot of families in the community and when I vote, I think about what would be best for every family.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.We are just right. Even through these tough times we have been able to bring in enough income to keep the Village moving forward and plan for the next phase of growth. We are ready for development and have all the resources in place to move forward quickly.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Along with growth comes crime. As we grow we will continue to add to our contract with Lake County Sheriff and add more patrols.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?We've been successful through these economic hard times by keeping staffing low. We need to focus on being ready for development. With the capital improvements in place we can move quickly to bring in sales tax dollars.What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I would like us to become a enviromentally responsible community. Encourage residents and businesses to save energy, recycle, and encourage LEED construction.
