We fell in love with its location and small town values. We have had time to get involved in the community and created many friendships within the village. With one of the greatest recessions to have hit our economy, I feel that Sugar Grove has a enormous upside potential in both commercial and residential growth. In order to fulfill this potential yet stay financially sound, I think my business background and conservative values make me uniquely qualified to be a Trustee. I have not run for an elected office before, and I have been meeting with residents from all areas of Sugar Grove to understand its challenges as well as how I can support the community and its residents.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain. With the recent increase in revenue taxes, our residents do not need an increased sales tax. However its more important than ever, in our current economic climate that the village continues to understand our residents priorities in planning, budgeting and managing services.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed. With our current economic climate, its more important than ever we maintain our current level of police and firefighter forces. We need to continue to make sure they are properly trained and have the appropriate equipment to provide proper safety to all our residents of Sugar Grove. This is also a time where these forces should reach out to the residents of Sugar Grove to make sure they are properly educated in public safety manners. In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?I think the Village recognizes the importance to develop and manage its programs, services, and their related resources efficiently as possible. I believe there needs to be planned focus groups with residents throughout the community. I believe it is important to implement specific performance measures for each department so that we are effective and efficient in providing services to its residents.What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I think Sugar Grove has a great blue print with both its location and residents to bring in retail and commercial businesses. The Village had issued single digit residential permits in 2010. Its important that we to create a ""Controlled"" commercial growth plan. I believe the Village should look at opportunities to I88 ramp (east and west bound). This will increase our daytime visability that national retail chain stores and restaurants look for as well as improving access to WCC and Aurora airport. All of course in maintaing our small town values.
