What makes you the best candidate for the job?My decision to run for Elgin's City Council was because I saw a lack of leadership and courage in dealing with, and solving, major problems facing Elgin.Having been both labor and managment, I bring to the table a balanced perspective, courage and drive, with no bias toward either. How will you deal with declining revenue, particularly in the riverboat fund?Declining revenue simply means some hard decisions must be made to cut spending not increase taxing. How well has the city addressed the issue of illegal immigration? Has it done what's appropriate or is there more to do? Please offer specifics. The City has taken a cowardly approach in addressing the illegal immigration problem. Telling the people that it has done everything it call legally and is a federal problem ammounts to saying ""not my job""There is alot more the City of Elgin can do but lacks courage to do it. The City could pass laws that would make employers and landlords verify employees and renters are legal. Failure to do so must have serious and religiously enforced consequences that includes fines, jail time.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to? Does the city need to reprioritize the funds it puts toward municipal projects? Non-profits?I made a freedom of information request for a copy of the city budget and recieve a pdf copy of a newspaper clipping that was very hard to read and provided outline information at best. Until I can recieve a copy that looks like a spreadsheet with all the information, I can not honestly answer this question. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Illegals tend to overpopulate single family homes and appartments. The city should define the allowable Square footage a person must have. Put the burden on landlords to monitor their appartments. This will also improve the parking situation many neighborhoods are facing, decrease crime, and possibly improve the jobs situation
